Near the Port of Houston, the east area of Houston has always been
important as a trade and industrial region. Galena Park lies just
outside 610 Loop East. Low taxes and moderately prices homes characterize
these three communities, many of whose residents work at the nearby
Port of Houston and petrochemical plants. Older, wood frame houses
and 1960s-built brick tract homes are available for reasonable prices.
The areas offer moderately priced apartments.
